Moving Day Saturday 12/11/11

Up and packing for our 10:15 shuttle to the airport. Probably could have left our stuff in storage and had a few more hours in Sydney but decided to have our wait at the airport. Had breakfast, wandered around the shops, and read our books 'til check in time. Hadn't been able to check in online, BA website sent us round in circles! No checkin kiosks, baggage trolleys charged at 4 dollars and checkin area very congested so none too impressed with Sydney airport, though there is free wifi. Noticed we'd had a minor upgrade when we got on the aircraft and weren't right at the back but in a more exclusive curtained off cabin for 'world traveller plus'. Nice collection of extras, like better seats with more leg room, goodies pack with better headphones, newspapers and possibly better food, though they had run out of the pork option when it came to us. Some seven hours later we arrived in Singapore to a major hike from gate to immigration, baggage was there as soon as we were. Lack of can post this from the public area at breakfast. Now only 8 hours ahead of UK instead of the 13 we had at one point, so we must be approaching half way home a signs to taxis but we found them hiding away and set off to our hotel. Taxi driver didn't know the street and spent a long time going round in circles to find it, though he offered a reduction in fare to compensate. Friendly traditional hotel, again pretty small room but adequate and clean. No lift but we are on the ground floor, no hot water supply to basin, but cold's none too cold anyway. No free wifi in the room unfortunately but I nd back to uk electricity sockets too!.
