Bit late getting going today after the late night last night. Out before ten and waiting for the shuttle to the quay to get our tickets and the bus to Bondi. Annoyingly the bus then retraced our steps almost to the hotel before turning left for Bondi. What a waste of time, anyway quite an interesting journey along Oxford Street and through Paddington arriving around lunchtime. Walked along the front through a film location and watched then shooting for a while. No sign of the sculptures we'd come to see nor much publicity so the information centre told us they were on the cliff walk to the south.. quite a brisk walk and uphill, but we are used to that now. Were going to have a picnic and bottle of wine but it's a no alcohol zone. Caught the bus again to Watsons Bay where we bought sandwiches and had our picnic there whilst waikting for the ferry. Unexpected beetroot in the ham and cheese salad roll meant I got purple stains on all my clothes - been quite careful and managed to avoid any food accidents the whole trip 'til now! Quite an fast journey back and a bus arriving at the stop as we did got us back to the hotel for a mid afternoon nap - been missing those for a while, and we also found a laundromat in the hotel which means we have some clean clothes for Singapore. Washing not dry before we had to set off so good job I didn't put all my trousers in to wash. Unfortunately we both managed to put our travel passes in the wash so we were reduced to using the free bus shuttle to the tower. Traffic was very congested and no bus arrived so we were forced to walk the three blocks to the centre. Got there only a few minutes late. Up to the top for our buffet dinner. Very popular just before dusk and unfortunately we had an inner circle table so photos were difficult with too many reflections. Excellent views in most directions but the bridge and opera house almost obscured by more recent tall towers. Interesting and generous buffet including oysters, though no coffee to end it. Started walking back looking for an ATM as cash running low. We knew we ought to have transferred money earlier and Saga eventually rejected our request at the hole in the wall. The walk back seemed much quicker as it was less windy and slightly down hill. Did our online banking and finally went to bed. Not sure how much longer the remnants of our NZ sim card account will keep working, but seems to have given quite a generous amount of roaming calls. Hopefully we won't run out before Singapore.
