Woke at 2am, and dozed on and off 'til 7. Got up and patronised McDonalds in the hope of finding a free wifi but not here. Back to the room with drinks for the fridge and then set off to walk to the Star ferry for Kowloon. Just missed one but a frequent service. Soon on Kowloon to view the Pen hotel and catch a MTR up Nathan road to the bird and flower markets. Walked back south missing the ladies market first time but going back disc3:08 PM overed it just opening at 12:30. In desperation went into a dodgy looking cafe where little English was spoken but the food was good. closed our eyes to the environmental health issues around us! Back into the market now in full swing. Bought a new wheelie bag and a Chinese outfit for Pippa and additions to Carol's underwear collection as only a small amount seemed to have come with us. Feet beginning to complain so we decided to forgo the jade market and temple on the walk plan and returned very spedily on the MTR to Admiralty. Chose an exit which took us into Pacific Place shopping mall where we seemed to either be entrapped as all exits marked were for emergency use. Eventually back to room for a little zzz.
Later on took a tram tomCausewaynbay but it dived off to the right unexpectedly so we got off at the first stop. Discovered we were next to Times Square shopping centre so we went in and were wowed by the 10 storey atrium. Managed to get lost in the lifts looking for the roof garden which was a waste of time. Meandered down more slowly looking at the shops then went out towards the harbour front. Crossed the local park avoiding joggers and eventually made it to the monsoon shelter and watched diners being put aboard a sampan and sculled out to a mother ship where the food was being preserved. All rafted together to ake a floating restaurant. Ambled back along the coast then over the various walkways back towards the hotel and stopped for a snack near Wan Chai station. Enormous menu but settled for omelette and cheese and ham toastie as the least likely to give indigestion. Coffee turned out to be Camp and evaporated milk yuk. The mixed fruit salad included tomato cucumber and lettuce as well as the tinned fruit. Bad choice. And so to bed.
